Pain Type: Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal condition. Musculoskeletal refers to bones, muscles, and joints. Fibromyalgia is characterized by widespread muscle and joint fatigue and pain. More women are affected by this condition than men.
Symptoms: Constant dull ache, stabbing pain, feeling as though you are in a fog, tenderness, pain on both sides of the body as well as above and below the waist, fatigue, pain and aching around joints, muscle twitching.
Treatment: Physical Therapy
Trigger Point Injections: When muscles don’t relax, trigger points form. These points can usually be felt under the skin and are “knot-like.” These trigger points can cause pain and the injection is placed directly in the trigger point. Like most of our other injections, trigger point injections use a combination of anesthetic and/or medication to treat the pain. The trigger point should relax as soon as you receive your injection and if there is still pain additional injections can be made to fully relax the point.
